SATURDAY 6th JUNE – QUIZ NIGHT 
Do join us for a fun quiz on Saturday evening. The Zoom room will be open from 7:45pm and the Quiz will start at 8pm. You don’t have to be a member of Mensa or super clever to take part. It’s a great opportunity to connect as a church family and it isn’t serious or competitive. So grab your drink and snacks if you’d like to, and come and join us ….. we would love to see you or hear your voice if you’d rather not appear on the screen. The details you will need to join the Zoom quiz are at the end of this email.

COFFEE TIME AFTER THE CHURCH SERVICE
Hospitality and spending time chatting has always been an important feature of gathering together on Sundays. An opportunity to have a catch up and conversation. This coming Sunday we are offering you this opportunity again – from your own homes! We are trialing this for just one week so do join us this Sunday. Watch the service at 10am then grab a coffee and join our Zoom coffee meeting at 10:45am. You might be wondering, “How on earth can so many of us talk at the same time on Zoom?” Don’t worry! Zoom offers us ‘break away’ smaller groups so that’s what we plan on doing. We are going to ‘break away’ into groups so you will have the opportunity to chat with 3 or 4 people – then after ten minutes or so, we’ll go into a different break out room. You don’t need to do anything other than accept the invitation that will appear on your screen to join a room (once you’ve entered the larger Zoom gathering where this will all be explained to you on Sunday morning.)

NEW LIVE PRAYER OPPORTUNITY
Due to the fact we are currently unable to access ‘live’ YouTube, tomorrow evening (Tuesday) at 7:30pm we are going to be live on Facebook! This will allow you to take part live in our prayer meeting by typing in prayer requests. Do log on and join us – if you have already ‘liked’ our CSK Hampton Church page you will automatically be alerted when we go live if you’re logged on to Facebook, so just click when that live notice appears on your screen.

SEND YOUR GREETING MESSAGE TO YOUR CSK FAMILY FOR SUNDAY’S FILM. WE NEED ALL OF YOU!
As well as celebrating the coming of the Spirit, Pentecost also celebrates the birthday of the church. We are still one big family, even when at home, and so for *this* Sunday, we would like to receive your pictures of an A4 paper/similar greeting or encouragement for the whole church. See the other attachment for ideas. This will be turned into a video for Sunday’s Pentecost service, so we want as many as possible (N.B. it will therefore be on YouTube/Facebook, so please bear that in mind if you don’t want your face shown).

– Send your greeting picture to [email protected] by this FRIDAY 29th, 6pm (strict deadline).
– It can be a bible verse, a word of hope, a hello from you/family, a wish to see everyone again – anything as long as it’s a) polite(!) and b) fits clearly in a single picture. Remember that small writing won’t show up on a video.
– It can include you/your family’s faces or not. It can include your name or not – if you want your name included on it, then please write it on the piece of paper as part of the message, as it won’t be added in later on the film.
– We are looking mostly to receive one picture per household, but children’s greetings to others in Glow/Shine/Illumin8/Youth very welcome if they would like to do separate ones.
– Landscape orientation is preferred unless your greeting really works better in portrait!

THIS WEEK

THY KINGDOM COME – 36 HOUR PRAYER
We are having a 36-hr continuous prayer chain (like our usual prayer rooms, only in your homes) from 11am Sunday 24th May – 11pm Monday 25th May (Bank Holiday). Sign up for your hour below. We would really like all participants to write just one (or a couple of) word/s on a piece of A4 about what God has said to you in that hour, and take a photgraph of the paper. At the end of the time together, we’ll put together a short picture collage/video of what God has been speaking to us about – it doesn’t matter if the same words come up multiple times and you don’t have to show your face on the photograph if you’d rather not, just the paper.

THY KINGDOM COME – PEBBLES PRAYER CHAIN
The first pebble in the chain says “We prayed for ….” Your pebble could have a picture on it or a word or words, something representing whatever you have prayed for, so that we can continue to pray or reflect on what you have prayed about. (See attached PDF for examples). Use felt pens or acrylic paint or whatever you have at home. To protect your pebble so it doesn’t fade, you could cover it with clear nail varnish or a layer of PVA glue. Alternatively, or in addition, you could tie a piece of fabric to the railing outside CSK to represent your prayer. You may even want to add a word to your material using fabric pen or felt tip. Add your pebble or fabric next time you’re out for a walk as you pass by the church. We will put the first pebbles out to start the chain on Wednesday. 

THY KINGDOM COME – LORD’S PRAYER DAILY AT NOON
We encourage everyone from Thursday the 21st May to Saturday the 30th May inclusive to stop at Noon and pray the Lord’s prayer. Additionally, we are inviting people to type prayer requests from Noon to 12:15 on our daily Facebook post or direct message us, and one of the staff team will be on line for those 15 minutes each day to respond instantly to any requests.

TAIZE ZOOM (TAIZOOM?) SUNDAY NIGHT
Thank you to everyone who replied – we will go for the most popular time of 6pm this coming Sunday 17th May. It will last about 40m and follow the usual pattern of songs, silence & a short reading. Please bring a candle if that would help you. We know it’s really, really hard for many to find silence in this season, but if you can, take this one opportunity to lock yourself away in a quiet room with your computer/phone and find stillness. SUNDAY
– 10am Sunday Short as usual, followed by Children’s/Families at 10.30 and youth on Insta Live at 11. Although we can’t celebrate communion in the same way as we used to, as it’s 3rd Sunday, we will be having a family meal together during the 10am service, so have some food and drink ready, which could be bread and wine, if you want to share in that way.

TAIZE
– As it’s also 3rd Sunday, we are hoping to have a short Taize Zoom in the evening (Taizoom?), but are aware 5pm is probably not the easiest time any more, when watching from home. If you are interested in joining us for a short Taize service, can you let me know by Wednesday what time would be best for you and we will go with the most popular time?

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK
– Many of you may know that it’s Christian Aid week, but of course, they are not able to collect in their usual way. We’ve attached a letter from our local co-ordinator about what they do and how to give at the moment. Please do prayerfully consider how you can give to their much-needed work around the globe.

We are producing a service for VE which is this coming Friday the 8th May. You will be able to access the service from our YouTube channel from 10am.

THIS WEEK
Last week we tried Live prayer on YouTube at 7:30pm for the first time. We are learning all the time, so we’re trying this again tomorrow (Tuesday). Here is the link you will need:

By being live, Joy, Rachel and I will be sitting on our computers at home at 7:30pm as we engage with you so this isn’t pre-recorded, hence you can request prayer and we can respond. The prayer is then recorded so if you are not able to join us live, you will be able to engage with the prayer meeting later.

Wednesday we will upload a micro-message. Thursday Traditional Evening prayer. Friday VE service (which will include a message).

Joy will be sending a message to families later this week so you will know what is needed for the Children and Families Slot which will be available on Youtube at 10:30am on Sunday and Youth will be contacted by Toby.

MARRIAGE COURSE

As we begin week 5 of restrictions, the Prime Minister has made it clear this morning that the situation isn’t going to change anytime soon. Although many of us may have been expecting this news, that won’t change the fact that the emotional roller coaster we are on has it ups and downs. During these very challenging times, we want you to know you are not alone. We are here for you, to support you in any ways that we are able within the restrictions we face. CSK CONNECTING THIS WEEK
We are aware that in recent weeks our Tuesday zoom prayer meeting has had some issues with reception and some challenging noise interference from one or two devices. So this week we are trying something new – we are going live! We invite you to join us. Rather than you speaking, you will have the opportunity to type in short prayers or prayer requests that will then be prayed out loud by Rachel or I. Go on to our YouTube channel just before 7:30pm (or connect with us anytime between then and 8pm). We will have a short time of silence with a candle, so you may like to get one ready. Please do bear with us as we get to grips with all the technology and work out how we can best connect with you.

This week look out on our YouTube channel for micro messages on Wednesday and again on Friday. Thursday evening will be traditional Evening Prayer. Sunday Short will be at 10am as usual. This Sunday evening at 6:30pm we will have a 30 minute service similar to soaking worship, with an extended time of worship and a short message.

PRACTICAL SUPPORT
Our COVID support group is still in operation. If you need shopping, or a prescription collecting, for example, then please do get in touch with either the office, Rachel or I and we will be able to share your need with the group. If you are fit and able yourself and would like to join the support group, do be in touch with us with your mobile phone number. Sincere thanks to those members of the group who have already been able to help others.

CHURCH OF ENGLAND NEW PHONE LINE RESOURCE
The Archbishop of Canterbury has launched a 24-hour free phone line for Christian worship and prayer, aimed at those who have no or limited access to the internet. The Daily Hope service will allow people to hear hymns, prayers and words that offer comfort and hope, especially in this Easter season. People calling the 0800 number will hear a greeting from the Archbishop and can then choose from a range of options including hymns, prayers, reflections and advice on Covid-19.

FOODBANK is not happening in the CSK building at the moment, but is still happening 6 days a week from a central location. Sharon, our Foodbank Team Leader, continues to help out at the central location. There is an urgent plea for help as Foodbank have completely run out of tinned meat at their warehouse. Donations of tinned meat or any other items can be popped into any of the Foodbank supermarket drop off boxes, or directly to the warehouse which is open Monday-Friday 10am to 1pm at Dodson House, Fengate, PE1 5XG. If you’re in a supermarket and unable to see the donation boxes, please ask at customer services.
